Founded in 1954 by Ed and Mary Barrett with just four rental cars operating out of Warren County Airport, the business grew into a trusted automotive name across the southern Adirondacks and North Country—while staying rooted in the values that started it all: integrity, transparent pricing, and genuine customer care.

Across three generations of family leadership, Barrett Auto expanded its services and earned a strong reputation throughout the region. The business became one of Hertz's top-performing franchises, added Penske truck leasing in 1982, and supported the 1980 Winter Olympics through vehicle rental services. Through every chapter, leadership passed from one generation of the Barrett family to the next—and the founding standard never wavered.

In 2012, I took over the business, carrying that legacy forward. That meant investing in modern diagnostic tools, disciplined process, and a team that treats every vehicle the way we'd treat our own—while holding the line on the quality-first standard that built this name. The tools have changed since 1954. The principle hasn't: do it right, verify it, and stand behind it.
